1. Why VettiGuard uses automation
VettiGuard uses automated rules and verification systems because trust decisions often need to be made consistently and quickly across web, API and mobile operations. Automation may analyse signals and recommend or produce a verification outcome, but it must be used within the limits described here.
2. Decisions and actions supported by automation
Depending on customer configuration, VettiGuard may automatically allow an operation, require additional human verification, request recapture, require stronger identity or device proof, rate limit traffic, route a case to review, reject a proof or block an operation.
3. Information that may be used
Automated systems may use:
- challenge and human-verification outcomes;
- liveness and biometric comparison results;
- identity-document signals;
- device and application integrity;
- session continuity and authentication context;
- network and request information;
- failed attempts and request velocity;
- prior verification events;
- customer-supplied transaction amount or risk context; and
- other bounded first-party signals documented for the relevant API or journey.
VettiGuard should not use raw passwords, payment-card security codes or unrelated sensitive information as risk features.
4. Significant decisions
From 10 December 2026, APP 1 includes additional privacy-policy transparency requirements for certain uses of personal information in substantially automated decisions that could reasonably be expected to significantly affect an individual's rights or interests.
VettiGuard includes automated-decision transparency before that commencement date so customers and individuals can understand the role of automation now.
5. Human review
Where a verification may have a significant consequence, customers should design a review or alternative pathway appropriate to the context. VettiGuard review queues may support authorised human consideration of uncertain or escalated evidence.
A reviewer should consider the policy reason and available evidence rather than approve or reject a person solely because of a single score.
6. No general character assessment
VettiGuard trust decisions concern the configured operation. They are not a general judgment about a person's honesty, intelligence, health, employability, creditworthiness or entitlement to public or private services.
7. Customer responsibility
The integrating organisation decides how a VettiGuard outcome affects its business process and remains responsible for the legality, fairness and proportionality of that decision. VettiGuard does not automatically decide whether a person should receive employment, healthcare, NDIS support, insurance, credit, government benefits or another significant service merely because a verification outcome exists.
8. Disputes
A person disputing a high-impact verification result should be given a practical way to contact the organisation that requested the verification. Where appropriate, the customer may request a new verification, alternative method or human review.
